A concussion is a mild traumatic\nbrain injury caused by a jolt to the head, usually occurring as a result of a\ncar accident or sporting injury. A sudden acceleration or deceleration to the\nhead causes your brain to slam into the side of your skull, causing injury. Symptoms\ntypically include headaches, dizziness, loss of balance and nausea or vomiting.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the event of a concussion, it is\nimportant to get plenty of rest since your brain is extremely sensitive and can\neasily be damaged further. If you continue to experience symptoms after seven\nto ten days you may be experiencing post-concussion syndrome. This means your\nbrain is having difficulty healing. To help return your brain to its prior\nlevel of functioning you will need to get plenty of rest, accommodation at school\nor work, medication and therapy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
